The Phoenix was adopted by the students of South Central High School as their official mascot in the spring of 2013. Several SCHS students drew the image that we use with the assistance of our art teacher. The story of the Phoenix is one of rebirth, as a second chance, to come back to success after a time of difficulty or struggle. This story is emblematic of many of our students who are getting a second chance at earning a high school diploma, and in doing so, gives Bismarck Public Schools a second chance to help students be successful and better prepared for their future in our community. We are proud of our Phoenix mascot and what it represents, and show it by issuing a free Phoenix hooded sweatshirt to each student upon the completion of his or her first ½ credit of schoolwork.
